Under the Sea
"The seaweed is always greener
In somebody else's lake
You dream about going up there
But that is a big mistake
Just look at the world around you
Right here on the ocean floor
Such wonderful things surround you
What more is you lookin' for?
Under the sea
Under the sea
Darling it's better
Down where it's wetter
Take it from me
Up on the shore they work all day
Out in the sun they slave away
While we devotin'
Full time to floatin'
Under the sea"
I just love "The Little Mermaid". When I think of an Under the Sea party this song pops in my head and plays over and over.
I had the pleasure of making little Miss Gracyn's birthday cake again this year. Her favorite Disney princess is Ariel! So for her birthday this year she had an Under the Sea birthday party theme and her mother requested the most perfect cake for her...
An aqua blue ombre ruffle cake!
It was my first time making BOTH fondant ruffles and using the ombre effect. I watched a couple tutorials on YouTube for tips then tried it out on my own. I love how it turned out.
Up close ruffles, my favorite picture :)
The cake is made from a 4-inch round top tier and a 6-inch round bottom tier. Both tiers are chocolate cake with white chocolate buttercream covered in marshmallow fondant. In order to get the ruffles to stick up and not break, I mixed equal parts fondant with pre-made white gumpaste purchased from my local craft store.
Better Than Sex Cupcakes
Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting and Strawberry Cupcakes with Strawberry Buttercream.
Chocolate-Chocolate Chip Cupcakes with Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting
I love looking at this cake!

Tinkerbell Cake
Tinkerbell Birthday Cake
Dave was a HUGE fan of this cake! I think he was the most excited about it once he saw how it turned out, which really shouldn't surprise me with his love for all things Disney! :)
I used the Barbie cake pan from Wilton and used an actual Tinkerbell Barbie doll (found at Target) instread of the half dolls included with the pan or that you can buy at the craft store for these kinds of cakes. That way the birthday girl was able to keep her full length Tink as a birthday gift from the cake lady!
Butterfly Cake
Butterfly Birthday Cake
My first butterfly cake and I think only my second time trying my hands at carving!
For this cake I printed off a coloring page from on-line and re-traced it on wax paper to fit the size of the cake I had. I cute out the butterfly and laid it on top of the cake so I would carve around the outside for the shape. After I peeled off the wax paper, I just used a knife to outline the design of the butterflies wings on the cakes and used different colored buttercream frosting to fill in.
I wish I would have outlines the entire butterfly's wings in the black to define them better in the picture.
The birthday girl requested pastel pink, purple and yellow for her butterfly.

Princess Aurora
I love trying new things and being tested with my baking skills, especially since I'm still very new at this and have so much to still learn when it comes to cake decorating.
Last week I got a call for a Princess birthday cake in which my customer wanted to order as a sheet cake. The birthday girl really wanted Princess Aurora from Sleeping Beauty but they were having trouble finding anyone who could do a Disney princess so they would settle for any princess. I of course did not want to disappoint a little birthday girl so I looked for ideas on-line and found a new technique to try out called Frozen Buttercream Transfer.
I found this great YouTube video found here that gave a really good tutorial. Basically all you need is a printed out image such as a coloring page at the size you need, wax paper, a cookie sheet, tape, and prepared buttercream in all the colors you need. First outline the image then start filling in practically like a paint by number. I froze mine for 24 hours before transferring onto my prepared sheet cake, peel off the wax paper and the pipe a boarder about the image since it's a bit thick.
And this is what I got!
Birthday girl Brynn was so surprised she actually got Princess Aurora on her cake!!

Girl Baptism Cake
This weekend I made a Baby Girl Baptism cake for a friend. Jen's little girl Emma was baptised today. Jen wanted a simple white cross cake with vanilla buttercream adorned in pink marshmallow fondant accents with an "God Bless Emma".

Tutu Birthday Party
I got the pleasure of making a cake and cupcakes for the daughter of our friends fpr her 2nd birthday. They had a cute tutu themed birthday party for little Miss Gracyn, with hot pink and orange decor (seriously adorable!)
My first successful take at ribbon to top Gracyn's cake, I found a great tutorial on-line on how-to here. I had a few ribbon casualities but luckily had made a few extra.
Chocolate Strawberry Covered Cupcakes (minus the chocolate covered strawberry on top) tinted extra pink and Chocolate Cupcakes with Peanut Butter Frosting tinted orange.
Vanilla Cake with Chocolate Chip Cupcakes with Chocolate Cream Cheese Frosting.
Happy Birthday Miss Gracyn!

Ladybug Birthday
One giant 3D ladybug for a 2nd birthday!
This is a chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream tinted red and black. This cake was easier than I thought it would be to construct. It is made out of 2 8-inch round cakes for the base. I put some of the cake batter into a glass bowl to bake to get the roundness for the top and then a small portion of batter in a ramekin for the head.
The only thing not edible were the antenna's, made from black pipe cleaner from the craft store.

Catching Some Bieber Fever
I caught some Bieber Fever last week in honor of making a special little girl, Lillie, her 6th birthday cake! I made a Hershey's Chocolate Cake with chocolate frosting and a homemade whipped cream filling covered in marshmallow fondant. It of course had to be his signature color purple along with silver and black accents.
